The Los Angeles Valley College Women's Basketball program had a clean sweep of the 2014 Western State Conference South Division Women's Basketball Post-Season Awards. Sophomore Lunden Junious-Reliford was named the Most Valuable Player, while fourth year Head Coach Monica Hang was named the Coach of the Year.
Lunden Junious-Reliford was named the WSC South Player of the Year off a Valley squad that was one of the most balanced in the State. Junious-Reliford averaged 10.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks a game for the Monarchs. Junious-Reliford also shot 43.2% from the floor. Junious-Reliford logged a season high 23 points in late December against El Camino College, grabbed a season high 18 boards against Solano in early December, and blocked six shots at Bakersfield at the beginning of this month.
Hang meanwhile earned her third straight Coach of the Year Award. Hang led the Monarchs to a 25-5 overall and a perfect 12-0 record in WSC South play. The Monarchs should be a top seed come tomorrow afternoon when the 2014 CCCAA Southern California post-season seeds are announced.
