Santa Barbara Locks Down WSC North Crown
Santa Barbara City College clinched the 2024 Western State Conference (North) title for the first time in over five years with a final league record of 8-1-1 after rattling off a seven-game win streak midway through the conference slate. This marks the first conference title for the Vaqueros since 2017 and is the 10th title overall.
A traditional point system is used to determine the conference champion each season. Per the WSC constitution and soccer supplement, teams will receive three points per conference win and one point per conference/divisional tie.
Mario David Vega, a freshman forward, led Santa Barbara in scoring with five goals and four assists en route to a 14 point total. Juan Carlos Torres and Mario David Vega followed with five goals apiece, while Leo Rubio notched an impressive nine assists tally.
Freshman keeper Miles Keane served as the primary defender in the box, starting in 13 of his 14 appearances. He totaled 48 saves with a .738 save percentage and secured five wins.
