Canyons Women’s Basketball Takes Both Top Awards in WSC South
College of the Canyons sophomore forward Hannah Green was named the WSC South Player of the Year this past weekend, while her Head Coach Greg Herrick was named the WSC South Coach of the Year. Green is the 11th College of the Canyons player to earn the top award, while Herrick is taking home his ninth nod.

Green was an absolute force in the middle for the Cougars, averaging 14 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 6.5 blocks per game. She finished 3rd in the entire CCCAA in rebounding, and first in blocks, beating the next closest individual by 2.5 blocks per game. In addition, Green proved to be an efficient scorer, converting 49.4% of her shots in the field, and hitting 75.4% of her free-throws.
Herrick meanwhile led the Cougars to a 23-5 overall record and 13-1 mark in WSC South and their 15th conference crown. Herrick also had Canyons on a 17 game win streak near the end of the season. The Cougars are the #9 seed in the upcoming CCCAA Playoffs and will travel to #8 Palomar College on Friday.
