Pierce and Canyons Seasons Finish In Second Round
Los Angeles Pierce College and College of the Canyons, the Western State Conference’s final two remaining teams in the 2013 CCCAA Southern California Regionals both finished their season in the second round this past week. Pierce fell to Orange Coast College 1-1 in penalty kicks, while Canyons’ terrific campaign came to a close at the hands of San Diego Miramar 1-0.

In the Pierce contest, the Brahmas and Pirates played to a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes of play. LA Pierce finally broke through in the first overtime with a goal by Diana Argueta in the 98th minute. Orange Coast answered in the second overtime with a goal in the 118th minute, before ultimately earning the victory in penalty kicks.
In the Canyons contest, the Cougars played neck and neck with the Jets of Mirmar. Mirmar scored the game winner in the 58th minute, while stopping three Canyons shots on goal in the final 45 minutes.
