Brown Named WSC North Player of the Year; Ramirez & Link Named Coach of the Year
Ventura College sophomore guard Elijah Brown was named the WSC North Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, while Ventura College Head Coach Joey Ramirez and Moorpark College Head Coach Gerred Link were both named the WSC North Co-Coaches of the Year.

Brown exploded as a sophomore during the 2015-2016 season, going from averaging 6.7 points per game as a freshman to averaging 20.9 points per game as a sophomore. Brown converted 50.5% of his shots from the field, and 37.6% of his shots from downtown, while adding 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per contest.
Ramirez meanwhile helped lead the Pirates to their fourth post-season appearance in their last five seasons. Ventura shared the conference title with Moorpark College, earning their 13th conference title overall and first since 2013. Ventura went 19-9 on the season and finished 9-3 in WSC North play, and will travel to #13 Cerritos College on Wednesday night for a playoff matchup with the Falcons.
Link guided the Raiders to a 20-8 overall mark and 9-3 WSC North record. The WSC North title for Moorpark was the sixth overall for the program, and the first since 2007. The Raiders earned the #8 seed in the CCCAA SoCal Playoffs and will host WSC South Champion and #9 seed Bakersfield College on Friday.
