Ventura Wins Outright WSC North Title; 25th Straight for Mircetic and Co
After clinching at least a share of the 2015 Western State Conference North Division Championship on Saturday with a 63-47 win over Santa Barbara City College on Saturday, the Ventura College Women’s Basketball program clinched the outright title on Wednesday evening with a ??-?? win at Oxnard College. It’s the 25th consecutive conference title for Head Coach Ned Mircetic and company, the 28th overall, and their 23rd outright conference championship.

It's the 25th consecutive conference title for Head Coach Ned Mircetic and company, the 28th overall, and their 23rd outright conference championship.
The Pirates clinched the outright championship with one game left in their 2015 conference slate, a title with third place and local rival Moorpark College on Saturday night. Ventura will head into that contest with a 24-5 record overall and 11-0 mark in WSC North play. The Pirates are ranked #9 in the State and #5 in Southern California in the latest iteration of the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches State and Regional Rankings.
In his 25th season at the helm, Mircetic has compiled an impressive 269-6 record (97.8% winning percentage) in WSC North play. The 25 straight conference titles by the Ventura College Women's Basketball program trails only Golden West College Men's Water Polo and College of the Desert Men's Golf in most consecutive conference championships in California Community College Athletic Association history in any sport. The Rustlers just won their 26th consecutive championship this past Fall, while the Roadrunners won their 27th straight in the Spring of 2014 and are currently competing for their 28th.
