Leiphardt quarterbacked the Vaqueros to another Western State Conference North Division title in 2014. Leiphardt averaged 9.18 assists per set and 0.85 kills per set as a setter. Leiphardt also recorded 25 aces and 30 total blocks as the Vaqueros finished 20-6 on the season.
Lyans meanwhile helped guide the Pirates to a 12-10 overall regular season record in 2014, and to their first post-season appearance since 2007. Ventura's 2014 campaign was its first over .500 season since 2007, and Lyans is the first Ventura coach to earn the award since 2005.
