Casado Named CCCBCA Player of the Week
Citrus sophomore first baseman Cam Casado earned California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA) SoCal Player of the Week honors for Week No. 12 (Apr. 6-12), announced Thursday.
Casado went 6-for-11 last week at the plate with four home runs, a double, six RBI, and drawing three walks. His offensive power with a 1.727 slugging percentage led Citrus to a three-game sweep of Antelope Valley. He helped the Owls come from behind in game one of the series with a two-run shot in the fifth before being the hero in game two with the go-ahead homer in the top of the ninth. In the finale, Casado was the hero again, nailing a two-run shot that boosted Citrus to an 11-7 win.
He currently is on a 12-game hitting streak, batting .425 overall with 10 home runs and 44 RBI.
He is joined by Glendale sophomore catcher James Harrington, who was also named SoCal Player of the Week, and Santa Ana freshman Andrew Phillips, who earned SoCal Pitcher of the Week honors.
