Canyons' Sturm Picks Up Pitcher of the Week Honors
Canyons hurler Ricky Sturm earned California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA) SoCal Player of the Week honors for Week No. 13 (Apr. 13-19), announced Wednesday.
Sturm led the Cougars to back-to-back wins over LA Mission last week on the mound, earning a save and a win. He recorded the final out in the team's 12-8 win, earning his fifth save of the year, before making a return appearance two days later, tossing a complete-game gem to lead Canyons to a 13-1 win. He scattered five hits, allowing only one run, no walks, and fanning three. Of his 96 pitches, 74 were counted as strikes. Overall, he's 5-2 on the season in 56.1 innings of work.
He is joined by Palomar's Michael Rodda, who was named SoCal Player of the Week.
