The 2014 California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Men’s Basketball Playoff seeds were announced on Monday afternoon, and the Western State Conference will have six representatives in the post-season. Three teams from each of the WSC North and WSC South qualified for the playoffs.
San Luis Obispo, CA -- The Cuesta College Men’s Basketball team didn’t even take the floor on Saturday night and yet it clinched its 8th conference title. The Cougars claimed the outright WSC North Championship Saturday evening when Moorpark College, knocked off Ventura College to give Cuesta sole possession of first place.
The Cuesta College Men’s Basketball program swept the top Western State Conference North Division Men’s Basketball awards. Sophomore Oscar Pedroso was named the conference’s Most Valuable Player, while Head Coach Rusty Blair was named the WSC North Coach of the Year.
Citrus College freshman Chris Reyes was named the Western State Conference South Division Player of the Year on Sunday afternoon. Glendale College’s Brian Beauchemin and Antelope Valley College’s John Taylor meanwhile were named the WSC South Co-Coaches of the Year.
Glendale, CA -- The Antelope Valley College Men’s Basketball program clinched the 2014 Western State Conference South Division Championship on Wednesday night. The Marauders defeated host Glendale College 69-60, behind 12 points and eight rebounds from Ryan Wright.
Glendora, CA -- Glendale College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Brian Beauchemin moved into 4th place in the California Community College Athletic Association All-Time Wins Board last week with a 73-71 win over Santa Monica College. The win was his 589th of his 33 year career.

Ventura College sophomore guard Zalmico Harmon and Head Coach Joey Ramirez swept the top awards for the WSC North recently. Harmon was named the WSC North Player of the Year, while Ramirez was the WSC North Coach of the Year.
Santa Monica College freshman David Nwaba and College of the Canyons Head Men’s Basketball Coach Howard Fisher were named the Western State Conference South Division Player of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively.
Three Western State Conference teams were ranked in the 2013-14 California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Pre-Season Poll. Citrus College, Antelope Valley College, and Ventura College all earned pre-season looks.
The Western State Conference had five teams in the most recent California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Association Southern California Poll. In addition, three teams cracked the first State Rankings of the year.
