Canyons Wins 2013 CCCAA State Championship
College of the Canyons won the 2013 California Community College Athletic Association Men’s Golf State Championship this past week. The Cougars posted a two round team total of 723, defeating Orange Coast College, who beat Canyons in the SoCal Championships, by just three strokes.

Sidney Wolf led the charge for the Cougars, with rounds of 69 and 70 at Rancho Canda Golf Club. That was good enough for a two round total of 139, the second best individual round of the tournament. Wolf was followed closely by teammate Jake Katz who went 71 and 69 in his two rounds to post a tournament score of 120, the third best individual round of the day. The Cougars rallied from a five stroke deficit after the first round, to win their third State Title in the last eight years.
Along with Canyons' dramatics, Santa Barbara was represented well by three individuals at the event. Dodge Ward was the lone medalist from that group, posting rounds of 71 and 70 for a two round total of 141.
