For the seventh time in program history, the College of the Canyons Men's Golf team finished the season on top of the CCCAA. The Cougars brought home their seventh CCCAA State Championship on Monday, and their second in three years.
The Cougars combined to shoot a 733 over the course of two rounds, taking a commanding lead in the first round with a round of 363 over the first 18 holes, eight strokes clear of the second place. In the second round of the day, Canyons stayed steady with a combined round of 370, the second lowest team round of the day and more than enough to claim the State Championship after their early round.
Leading the way for Canyons was Eric Kim who fired consecutive rounds of 71 and 74, tying teammate Sam Sloman who went 74 and 71 for a combined total of 145.
Along with Canyons, Santa Barbara City College also represented the WSC in the 2015 CCCAA State Championships. Santa Barbara finished in 5th place out of the eight competing teams. The Vaqueros' Brett Patton was the highest individual WSC finisher, placing 8th individually with a 74 and 71, winning the card-off with Kim and Sloman.
