Los Angeles Pierce College and Santa Barbara City College split the 2013 Western State Conference North Division championship this past week. Both schools finished with a 11-1 mark in WSC North play and split their regular season meeting.
Both matches between the two schools were four setters, with each road team winning. The Brahmas won the first meeting of the year at Santa Barbara before the Vaqueros avenged the loss later in the year at Pierce.
It's the 11th conference title in program history for Santa Barbara and the 13th overall for LA Pierce. The 13 conference titles matches Cuesta College's conference record of 13 conference championships. It's the first WSC North title for Pierce who moved over to the North Division from the South Division this year to make way for Antelope Valley College. For Santa Barbara it's the fourth conference crown in five years.
Both Santa Barbara and LA Pierce will be participants in the upcoming 2013 CCCAA Playoffs. That announcement is expected on Sunday afternoon.
