Canyons Claims Third WSC South Title With Win at Bakersfield
The College of the Canyons Volleyball team claimed their third overall Western State Conference South Division title on Wednesday evening with a win at Bakersfield College. It’s also their first conference title since 2000.
The College of the Canyons Volleyball team claimed their third overall Western State Conference South Division title on Wednesday evening with a win at Bakersfield College. It's also their first conference title since 2000.
In the deciding match, the Cougars came out of the gate fast. Canyons won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-12. The Renegades rallied with a 25-16 victory in set three, but the Cougars were too much in the end winning the fourth set 25-23. In the win, Canyons was paced by Serena LeDuff 18 kills and team high 27 digs. Canyons finished the regular season with a 20-3 record overall and 11-1 mark in WSC South play.
Both Bakersfield and Canyons are expected to qualify for the 2013 CCCAA Playoffs. That announcement is expected on Sunday afternoon.
